Science behind the healing

The saponins in Kūmarahou naturally clean skin. In the 19th century, bushmen found that when its flowers are rubbed with water they foam into natural lather, which they could use to clean the kauri gum off their skin. As a result Kūmarahou is often nicknamed 'gum-diggers' or 'bushmans' soap. Kūmarahou is good for all-round health, containing valuable flavonoids promote digestive health.

The potent antibacterial and antifungal activity of Mānuka oil is due to the vast range of terpenoids that have shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi. Studies have shown Mānuka oil is 30x more effective than tea tree oil and is considered to be one of the most potent natural disinfectants on the planet. Macropiper Excelsum, better known as Kawakawa, is incredibly healing. Research shows that it decreases inflammatory markers of nitric oxide as it possesses the bioactive constituents Myrsitcin and Diayangambin, which are anti-inflammatory.
